UK Customs Allowances ...

Your duty free allowances and tax free shopping is dependent on the final destination you are travelling to.

If you are travelling into the UK from the EU the below list can be brought in without any additional charges being imposed:
  • 250g of tobacco, 200 cigarettes, or 50 cigars, or 100 cigarillos

  • 2 Litres of still table wine, or fortified or sparkling wine or other liqueurs, or 1 Litre of alcoholic beverages stronger than 22%

  • 250ml of toilet water and 50g of perfume

  • Other goods up to the value of £145, including souvenirs

  • Goods obtained duty and tax paid in the EU are unlimited
All goods being brought into the UK should be carried into the Country / through Customs by the passenger whom whose goods are for.

All goods must be strictly for personal use - own consumption and gifts - and strictly not for resale or for payment of any kind.

Should Customs suspect that any such goods are being brought into the UK for commercial use, a Customs Officer will ask a series of questions
- an idea of questions that will be asked include: type and quantity of goods bought, why they were bought, how much was paid, how often the passenger travels, how much alcohol and tobacco the passenger normally consumes.  Also the Customs Officer can make checks into the answers given.

Taken into account is whether the goods are on easy display or if they have been concealed from view.

For example, the following will be considered suspect:
  • 110 Litres of beer
  • 90 Litres of wine
  • 10 Litres of spirits
  • 20 Litres of fortified wine (i.e. port or sherry)
  • 3kg tobacco
  • 3,200 cigarettes
  • 400 cigarillos
  • 200 cigars
Goods believed to be being imported for commercial use will be seized. Goods will also be seized if caught being sold. It's a serious offence, resulting in up to seven years in prison for persons found guilty.

Like the UK, a lot of Countries have their own tobacco and alcohol restrictions and laws, for example some require persons to carry documentation covering the goods.

Should you be planning on buying large volumes of tobacco or alcohol check with the Country’s Authorities in advance of travel.

Below are some Countries' special restrictions relating to alcohol and tobacco:

  Special Restrictions
  Czech Republic 200 cigarettes, or
250g smoking tobacco, or
50 cigars, or
100 cigarillos
  Estonia 200 cigarettes, or
