| In the early years of flight aviation, pioneers used the land to the south of the Doncaster racecourse. During 1914-1918 it was a base for pilot training but this airfield is now long gone. | Starting in 1776, Doncaster’s St Leger is the oldest classic in the horse racing calendar. There are around 30 days of race meetings each year, including the September St Leger meeting.
