Cabin Baggage and Size Allowed

Only one item per passenger is allowed through the airport search point with a maximum size of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (note: the re-sealable bag must be able to fit within the cabin bag). Additional items, for example hand bags, will be required to fit inside the one permitted item of carry on baggage.

Screened, but permitted are walking aids, wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Outsize Items

All items of luggage which do not fit in the permitted cabin baggage size (maximum length 56 cm, width of 45 cm and depth of 25 cm) must be checked in to be placed in the aircraft hold.

An exception to this is musical instruments, these are allowed on the craft as a second item of hand baggage. It is advisable to check with your airline before travelling if any special arrangements need to be made.

Liquid Contents

Allowed liquids are permitted in quantities no greater than 100ml, each carried in a separate container.

The containers of 100ml liquids must be carried within a re-sealable transparent plastic bag - no greater than 1 litre in capacity (approximately 20cms x 20cms) - see below. Only one such bag is allowed per passenger.

This bag of liquids has to be presented for security inspection at the security control points.

Any liquid goods that don't fit into the plastic bag, or are needed in greater quantities than the 100ml limit must be placed in the main luggage, as stated by security at Sheffield Airport.

The term 'liquid' refers to goods such as:

  • Drinks and food items such as water, soup, syrups
  • Lotions, creams, oils, perfumes
  • Spray deodorants or and pressurized containers
  • Toothpastes
  • Shower, shaving and hair gels
  • Or similar such 'liquid' items

Liquid Baby Food

Flying with baby foods - please be advised that baby foods and sterilised water are permitted in larger quantities above the 100ml limit but only sufficient for the journey. These liquids will be subject to a taste test at airport security.

Essential Liquid Medicines

Flying with medicines - please be advised that it is permitted to take essential medicines for the duration of your trip but they will be subject to the following authentications. You must obtain written permission from the airline and the airport. You should also have documentation from a qualified medical professional such as your GP or consultant.

Hand Luggage Size Allowance

All passengers are allowed to carry luggage onto the plane - this must not exceed 56cm x 45cm x 25cm in size.

In addition, any prams or wheelchairs etc. are allowed.

Laptop Computers & Electrical Items

If you are travelling with a laptop or other large electrical item in your hand luggage note that these will have to be screened separately at the security controls.

Also note that a laptop carried in a case will count as the passenger's one piece of hand luggage.
