The biggest reason passengers are refused onto a flight is because their passport is not in order.
First of all, is your passport still valid? Many passengers' have expired and they only realise this when they at check-in. Also check the passports of any children that are travelling with you as these are issued for just 5 years.
Secondly, make sure that your passport photo is not different beyond recognition to you. Or, that your passport is in very bad condition.
